Trying to understand your credit also means that you need to establish a little bit of credit to begin with.
People will throw all kinds of ideas and tips around trying to tell you how to establish and take care of your credit. No matter what anyone tells you, the main step to establishing your credit is to pay your bills on time. I once read that it is better to have bad credit than no credit. I guess the term means, you need some form of credit to get anything. I haven’t had my credit ran in nearly 7 years. I am close to getting married and possibly getting a loan for our first home. This information is very helpful. I want to get a good understanding before I dive in.
Good advice! One thing I would like to share I have found in my personal credit repair..and have heard time and time again. Using boilerplate dispute forms usually are flagged as “frivolous” by credit reporting agencies. If I hand write a dispute, esp. if written in a pen color such as “salmon” or something..it gets rejected by the OCR “Optical Character Recognition” device..which prompts a manual review by an agent, more times than not your dispute will be granted. Do your due diligence on this… you don’t need to be stuck with credit issues that were not of your making.
