Many people today are looking for prudent ways to raise their credit score.
Are you? You have certainly come to the right place if this is the information you are seeking. In an effort to help anyone improve their credit score, we are going to present several tips that will almost guarantee that your credit rating will improve.
Using these bad credit repair strategies, you can increase the probability of getting most of the credit accounts that you apply for from this point forward.
Raising Your Credit Score – Simple Tips
1. You need to order copies of your credit report today.
The first thing you need to do is order copies of your credit record from the top three credit reporting agencies. This will give you the opportunity to discover why you are having credit issues, which may actually be because of poor management of your finances. You will be able to develop an action plan which can help you repair your credit history, gradually moving toward regaining your good credit once again.
2. Always dispute credit report errors.
If you see any inaccuracies or problems on your credit report, you need to dispute them. A single blemish on your credit record can adversely affect your existing bad credit standing even more, causing you to be rejected by potential lenders. A letter of dispute should be filed by you with the firm that provided the incorrect credit report information. By doing this, the credit reporting agency can investigate the claim, make the necessary changes, and hopefully return your credit rating to its normal levels.
3. Existing credit obligations must be managed appropriately.
To fully achieve bad credit repair, you need to become more responsible toward your financial obligations that you currently have. Whatever payments you have, you need to make sure they are paid in a timely manner. Each and every month, make sure those payments go through. Whatever your credit limit is on your cards, never exceed them for any reason. If you do this, your credit history will definitely have a sizable blemish, and your financial well-being may not be something you can easily recover from.
4. Get a new credit account if possible.
If you have outstanding debts, and you are living paycheck to paycheck, applying for a new credit account might be in your best interest. You should look for one that has no fees, and has extremely low interest rates so that you can easily make the monthly payment. By doing this, the money that you borrow from this creditor can be easily paid back in a timely manner.
5. Get bad credit repair help as soon as possible.
It is always recommended that you get professional assistance from credit counseling agencies that can help you repair your credit, especially if you are not confident that you can do this on your own. Working with a certified financial advisor, you can have a credit management strategy set up for you that will work in conjunction with your existing financial obligations, allowing you to repair your credit in a timely manner. You will be given workable strategies that can help you manage your finances in a way that will help you prevent further tarnishing your credit record, plus avoid acquiring additional debt that may dramatically hurt your finances.
I got my credit reports because I knew I have stuff on their that is not only incorrect. Thanks for that. I applied for consumer credit and was asked about a loan I had never applied for, let alone received. I thought it was a case of identity theft, but it was a case of someone mixing my credit report up with an uncle with the same name as mine. It seems if you let an error go it eventually propogates somehow and appears on your credit reports everywhere.
I never thought of getting a new credit account to help me with my current debt but it makes sense. I have been struggling to get out from under a couple of high interest debts and have just avoided taking on anything new. But to reduce interest and have another $100 a month with no further sacrifices I can apply to my debt load that is now going to interest payments would be a big help.
This was all good stuff. Excellent points to follow.
When I was flush I rarely check my credit card statements thoroughly. When things got tough though I started to pay close attention to what I was spending and at least every other month I found discrepancies in charges on at least one credit card. Never a lot, but more than I was willing to just give away. The worst offender was my cell phone provider, at least 4 overcharges in a single year totalling $100. Sound like nothing, but do that to millions of users and it adds up to a ton of money each year. I removed them from my auto payment so they had to submit a bill and what do you know, no overcharges on my bills in almost 18 months.
Hi Tanya
Good for you! You would be surprised at how many errors occur due to auto payment! Not just that though, you have to remember to be on the look out for companies you have never heard of charging your account. A few years ago it was really common, but the banks have really helped with their own monitoring system. Sometimes it gets annoying. If I go out of town and start spending my Amex card gets shut off until I call them. But its better than the alternative of having some scam artist updating all their electronics on your credit card!
Keep up the good work and if you haven’t already, check out some credit monitoring companies. You need to monitor your credit just as much if not more than your credit cards!
Take Care!
