on May 24, 2018by Shelly Evansin Credit Cards

If you want a credit card for bad credit, you will discover many options in the market.

On this post, we talk about eight facts about bad credit credit cards that you should know.

1. Some credit cards for adverse credit have to have a security deposit.

When you enroll in a secured card, be prepared to submit cash security deposit. The amounts are ranging from $200 to $500 or maybe more, with regards to the credit limit you may need.

2. Some credit cards for bad credit do not involve security deposit.

There are now credit cards for bad credit that do not require the submission of cash deposit. These credit cards are known as unsecured bad credit cards. However, the interest rate as well as the processing fees and finance charges are expected to be higher than a secured card.

3. The rate is higher than a regular card

. Because of the greater risk, credit cards for people with bad credit usually have a higher interest rate than regular cards. But this doesn’t mean you should settle with card that imposes an unreasonable APR. DO comparison before making a choice to find a good deal.

4. Not all prepaid credit cards can be used to rebuild credit score

. If your prepaid card issuer reports to a major credit bureau, then you can use it to improve your score. However, not all prepaid cards in the market offer credit reporting provision so this is one thing you should check before signing up for a credit card.

5. The fees may lead you to bad credit

. Aside from an affordable rate, you must look for a credit card with reasonable and minimal set of fees. This is particularly important for prepaid credit or debit cards. For instance, most prepaid cards will charge a fee for every transaction you make using the card. You might also be charged with a yearly fee or a monthly fee to keep your account active.

6. You can use your credit card to rebuild bad credit

. Through regular use of the card and timely payment, you should be able to improve your credit history and credit score after 6 months or longer.

7. Not all bad credit card issuers offer an upgrade

. Some credit cards for bad will automatically upgrade your account if you can consistently submit your payment in a year. Nevertheless, if your issuer does not automatically offer you an upgrade, you should take the initiative to switch to an unsecured credit card account or a regular account as soon as you improve your bad credit to enjoy lower interest rate, higher credit limit and better privileges.

8. Not all bad credit card offers are legitimate

. Consumers need to watch out against fraudulent credit card offers especially when applying for a credit card online. ID thieves may use the internet to steal personal information from people through fake bad credit credit card offers. Do your research first before signing up an application.
